SUBJECT: Office of Knowledge About Things

The Office of Knowledge About Things is currently located in sunny Sejfeld, and is one of the first modern day buildings to be built entirely from prime sphoxolis wood imported from the northern Evesque Valley. Further ensuring its place as a forerunner in identifying, cataloguing, and disseminating the very Things that make up our modern lives, the Office of Knowledge About Things was the first to understand that Freege Horns not only gave us beautiful music, but also excellence in movable and dynamic engineered parts. The Office of Knowledge About Things is one of the only buildings that can be easily disassembled and transported from location to location. Its initial research into this liquid movement, dating from -73 EC, can easily be attributed to the massive steps forward in wooden skeleton Mechanaut design.

The goal of the Office of Knowledge About Things is to satisfy a crucial hole missing from the many prominent and well-known institutions that dot our landscapes. Whereas there is excellence in science and technomancy and unsubstantiated and general research, there has yet to be an attempt to study, document, investigate, and elaborate on the very literal and touchable things of everyday life.

First formed in -80 EC, the founding task of the Office of Knowledge About Things was to devise a way in which to discover Things to gain knowledge about. Thus evolved a tradition that catalogs every Thing a person accrues over their lifetime. Starting at the date of birth, the Office of Knowledge About Things will, for free, keep exacting details of your material possessions. Knowledge about Things is only useful when applied to society as a whole, and learning how each individual person interacts with their particular Thing creates a communal enlightenment over that Thing's importance.

These records are removed 20 days after a person has died, in respect to the tragedy of lost data and to protect the individual's privacy. No one person weighs more than another -- once their actions and behaviors have been incorporated into the whole, their particular curiosities and edge cases are no longer necessary. Records are burned ceremoniously under the light of the next full Pinky, and the attracted Burnflies turn each fire into a tribute of that person's importance to our culture.
