Pop Artist Prince's Site Gives Up the Ghost

Prince's site has become a ghost site
The artist formerly known as Prince maintained an online property called the NPG Music Club" at the domain, http://www.npgmusicclub.com/ which served as his official home site. When the site launched, members paid $125 a year to experience exclusive (or semi-exclusive) Prince content; the price was later lowered to $25 for a lifetime membership.

The site ran for many years (the Internet Archive's first capture is from late 2001) and it enjoyed a brief spike in popularity in early 2005 which was likely caused by something Prince did in real life, but it never seems to have cracked the Web's Top 100,000 sites. It is not clear why Prince decided to do close the site.

Here are a few archived instances of the NPG Music Club in its prime.
