BOTW.org: Back from the Grave!

I was at Search Engine Strategies a couple of weeks ago and thought I saw a ghost. What I was in fact seeing was a guy handing out "BOTW.org" T-shirts. I remembered BOTW.org very well - it died more than five years ago, as recalled in a thoroughly caustic review written back in February of 2000.

BOTW.org has changed ownership and has morphed from a site that passed out awards to a straight-ahead directory supported by PPC ads. Eschewing Google, MSN and Yahoo, it sells its own ads, and, according to the guy I spoke to at the show, is making a fair amount of money doing so.

I'm happy to see this old crusty property scrubbed, painted, and refitted for Web 2.0. BOTW.org is dead -- long live BOTW.org!
